Scheide Hall is a new 8,000 sf building that stands at the center of the Princeton Theological Seminary campus. Designed as an annex to the historic Miller chapel, the building supports administrative offices, practice rooms, choir space, and a music library. The two-story stone structure continues the line of masonry buildings around the central quadrangle of the campus and helps define, with the chapel, an outdoor court for assembly and post-chapel activities. The intention of the design was to give this special music program an assertive identity on the campus.

Offices and support spaces are accommodated on the ground floor of the building, while the rehearsal room occupies most of the upper level. In order to maximize the acoustical properties of the space, the rehearsal room extends up into the rafters and is lighted by a recessed line of clerestory windows. At the front of the building, a projecting bay window overlooks the adjacent chapel portico. At night, light emanates from the building's clerestory and bay as a kind of lantern or beacon on the campus.
