The Seminary consolidated its campus on the western side of the downtown New Brunswick site and made the remainder of the site available to Rutgers University for academic uses. The reconfigured campus includes the historic Gardner Sage Library and a new academic building that contains most of the Seminary’s program. The structure is a two story, 30,000 square foot building that shapes an outdoor campus courtyard. The building has primarily classrooms, chapel, multi-purpose room and support space on the main level. The upper level includes limited classrooms, administrative and faculty offices and some rental space for partner organizations.

The building is accessed from new parking on the north side of the site and from a drop-off circle on the south. A main entrance is located on College Avenue, the west side of the campus. The center of the plan contains reception and student space. This serves as a hub for all functions in the building. The chapel is located directly adjacent to this reception atrium. Multipurpose room and classrooms are located in direct proximity. An open stair leads to the upper level where the president’s and dean’s offices are located. Faculty and associated staff are located in the north wing of the building. A large classroom is accessed directly from the main circulation area.

The new building is brick and metal panel with extensive areas of glazing opening up to the central courtyard. The chapel is a pavilion that frames the outdoor courtyard with the front facade of the library. The court itself is a garden space used by faculty and students.
